Anger
I have been having a problem with my downloading of torrents. For the past few weeks i have learned of a speedhack which speeds up torrent downloads, however i have noticed an alarming after effect, an effect which i have to speak out about hence the reason i have signed up.The effect is that it effectively allows the leech to steal your FULL upload bandwidth totally bypassing any and all rate limits and the ONLY way to stop it is to use the ipfilter to remove the addresses. I am now spending my whole time banning ip address so i can get decent speeds of download.i want to get other peoples opinons (especially those of the makers of utorrent) and maybe we can get something done about these leechers and the hack itself.I tried attaching a picture but it doesnt allow it on this site for some reason. Switeck
Can you rule out mislabeled local peers (ips on the same ISP) as the cause?Have you set your upload speed too close to max?
Anger
i honestly dont know how to find out about mislabeled peers, there seems to be no commonality between the addressess. the only symtom of this is that the upload goes to my maximum and therefore kills my download speed and my upload limit is usualy set between 20-40 yet is regularly going to 90 (my max) as a result. GTHK
Newer versions (dunno which) of uT are supposed to prevent this with clock drift compensation, if speedhack doesn't work on those versions then it's working (it's needed on the victims side). Anger
i checked those options - one was already checked however the other wasnt. ill report back if it still happens. thanks.*EDIT* well it seems the one check box seems to have hit the nail on the head. so far none of what was happening before happened this time so i feel kinda stupid for blaming the speedhack. anyway thanks for taking the time to help.
