hendrixian
Am running utorrent 2.0.4. on Windows 7 Ultimate. On computer restart I get "This program is freeware, if you paid for it, you have been scammed. etc..." I have been using this version for awhile and it just started a few days ago. It happens at every restart. Utorrent doesn't start until I close this window. How do I remove this? thanx.
awiklendt
I am also getting this message popup. I have read all the relevant threads in this forum (including those starting from 2006 - four years ago).i don't know anything about network controllers, so i can't tell you what they're doing, if they're en/disabled, when they switch.what i CAN tell you is i am running:* uTorrent 2.2 build 23235* Windows 7 professionalmy internet connection varies from:* not connected (most of the time if i'm not at work)* hard-wired LAN connection via work proxy (when i'm at work, obviously)* mobile broadband connected via USB (we don't have access to cable/other where we live, unless you want dialup - no thank you!)* connection using mainly bluetooth via my mobile phone using software from the manufacturer (nokia), this is usually when my partner needs the external mobile broadband modem on various days.[edit: i should also add that i have MOST of my software not auto update because (a) updates don't work via my work proxy (which is my main connection), and ( when i'm not connected at work, i'm rarely connected so © i run all my update checks manually.]reading all those previous posts, i realise that uTorrent developers get hit up for refunds from scammed people. and i can see why most people would approach uTorrent for their refund: because the information provided in the uTorrent application (the 'about' box) implies to the user that uTorrent will itself provide this refund ("if you paid for it, get a refund!") (reads like: "get a refund from us")it should, instead, say something to suggest to the user to get a refund "from the vendor where you purchased uTorrent" or something. This might help. or even a link the user can click on which goes to a "if you got scammed, try these steps" page... like contacting the vendor and what info blah blah, as well as other ways for the user to be a bit more wise in their purchases etc... i think that would help a lot more - educate and they won't get scammed so much.
