mrchinaplate
G'day all, I allowed uTorrent to update to 2.2 and its turned into a dog. It's taking forever to start, consuming huge resourses (40-60%of cpu instead of 2-4%), and continualy fading in and out of 'not responding'. It's shuffled all my file orders and columb choices, and the right click menu is often missing or slow to open, responding deadly slow to any mouse actions while again fading in and out of 'not responding'. Whats going on? I have managed to get back to 2.0.3 by reinstalling BTGuard and all has returned to normal. Where can I find 2.0.4 to use until this 2.2 update is fixed. Are others having problems with the latest update? Can't say I think much of the new bubble-gum look either, but I can wear it if it worked. I've always thought the world of this software with it's simplicity and low resource usage.

mrchinaplate
G'day, I only have 12 torrents and am using the windows f\wall. No problems at all with 2.0.3 or 2.0.
mrchinaplate
G'day and thanks for your input. I tried 5+ restarts without results. It made my rig unusable for any other program and was overheating my CPU. I can not afford to be without other functions for any extended period or risk damage. This behaviour surely can not be normal functioning, and there seems to be no recognition of it from the developers. As I said, installing the latest BTGuard version fixed things for now. Windows tells me I now only have 2.0.4 installed but uTorrents says it's 2.0.3 so go figure? I only have 12 current torrents running so there would not be much to re-index or check. As you say, I need any leaks fixed, but as things stand I will have to wait till uTorrent recognises the problems many seem to be having with the update or just go elswhere. BTGuard offers no info regarding it's own software or the torrent clients, which is frustrating in itself, and certainly no recognition of leakage. If there are leaks then they are being dishonest about their product.Cheers
mrchinaplate
So what has happened to the posted reply I just answered?
DreadWingKnight
munched it because the nutjob was cross-posting it across many threads needlessly.

Firon
When you upgrade to 2.2, is uTorrent itself using CPU?
mrchinaplate
Yes, it is uTorrent not the install program. It is so demanding and sluggish that I could not run other programs while it is running.
Firon
Specifically, did you look at the processes tab in the Task Manager?

Firon
Could you? I'd like to know if uT itself was using all the CPU.
mrchinaplate
Sorry, as stated I have reinstalled 2.0.3.

mrchinaplate
As stated, It's 2.2 that has been the problem.
DreadWingKnight
Did you double-check to make sure it's the 2.2 process that is actually eating the cpu in task manager? So far, the answer to that is no.
mrchinaplate
The problems start when 2.2 is run, the problems stop when 2.2 is closed.
Switeck
Did you double-check to make sure it's the 2.2 process that is actually eating the cpu in task manager? And network-using malware on your computer could be to blame, which is why DWK is asking that question. mrchinaplate
According to AVG, Spybot and Adaware my rig is clean. There are no other problems with the setup. From the number of posts with similar issues it would seem clear that 2.2 is the common factor.
DreadWingKnight
The problems start when 2.2 is run, the problems stop when 2.2 is closed. That means nothing. Check to make sure it's actually the 2.2 process.
mrchinaplate
I keep saying that I removed 2.2 and I should not have to risk the stability of my system to test your software. Many are having these issues with the update.

DreadWingKnight
We have a shopping list of applications that don't play nice with uTorrent specifically, and systems in general. If it's one of those, both us AND users NEED to know.
