How do I update from uTorrent 2.0.4 to uTorrent 2.2 on Ubuntu/wine?

Hello,

I have used utorrent with Wine on my Ubuntu 10.10 OS for some time. (it's 32bit)

I have tried over and over again, but failed to update to uTorrent 2.2.

When prompted to update I click yes. Sometimes a new icon showed on my desktop (with the new design of this newer version), but then when I double clicked it, uTorrent did not start, or I would get a message it was already running.

I have tried to update via the Help menu on the uTorrent GUI. Nothing happens.

I have also tried to download the exe. file with the new 2.2 version from uTorrent site, but then, when trying to open it with Wine, all it does is open the old uTorrent 2.0.4.

How can I update to uTorrent 2.2 in Ubuntu 10.10 with Wine?

Same problem here with Ubuntu 10.04 and wine 1.3.9.

Install the latest utorrent 2.2.1 beta, works with wine 1.2 and 1.3.9.

Plain old 2.2. had issues.

Thanks but, in my case, that isn't an option. I'm user of private trackers and it doesn't allow beta versions.

The µTorrent developers should test its stable versions with wine.

That did it for me. Installed beta 2.2.1 and it's working fine.
