this is the problem I'm having, and utorrent is the program the problem is associated with.

when this happens, in utorrent i get the tracker message:

"An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions."

but more significantly, my internet stops working, until i close utorrent and then retry

it's not a huge problem, but it is an inconvenient nuisance.

I'm using vista, and utorrent 2.0.4, and I have no firewall or anti-virus

also, I ran utorrent as admin (based on a comment in another thread), but still had this problem

any help?

uTorrent hit the half open limit. Lower uTorrent settings and it won't happen.

I reduced my half-open to 4, but I'm still having the problem, though I think less frequently

Lower it more. If you're not heavily multitasking you might have some kinda malware.

Lower bt.connect_speed to 1 and net.max_halfopen to 1 or 2.

If you still get 4226 errors (max half open connections), then it's probably not uTorrent causing them!
