longsip50 Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 I was in the process of downloading a 25gb torrent when my computer crashed. Now I have my new computer and when I try and download the torrent it wants to download the entire thing again. Is there a way to have it download only the 30% or so that I had remaining? Thanks
redtail Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Depends if the hard drive in your old pc is still usable. You could take the hard drive out of your old pc (assuming the drive is still ok) and either hook it up to your new pc as an internal secondary drive, or buy a drive enclosure for it and use it as an external USB drive. Once you've got the old drive up and running, stop the .torrent file in uTorrent, set the download location as the folder on your old drive that contains the data you already downloaded and then do a force recheck. When you restart the torrent, it'll resume downloading the remaining data. However, if your old drive is damaged beyond use then you'll have to download all the data again.Hope that helps
longsip50 Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 Thanks. The hard drive was fried but I was originally saving on an external drive, so I still have the 70% that I downloaded.
Switeck Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 If you can recover the .torrent files and still have the data...follow the migration guide:http://www.utorrent.com/documentation/migrate
