Spock the Vulcan Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Hi there!Just a general question out of curiosity. It concerns the data that is available under the PEERS tab in uTorrent. I noticed that sometimes, you are downloading from a seed, who has the torrent you are downloading 100% available.Nevertheless, if you look at the download/ upload speeds, it turns out you are still uploading to them (Uploadspeed apporx. 0.1-0.5 kB/s). Isn't that weird since they have the torrent 100% available?Does this make any sense? Can somebody explain why I am still uploading to them although they have an 100% availability? Thanks in advance!
motley667 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 From what i've learned so far, you upload to peers who are connected to you and they don't have the whole file, it's the tab "uploaded" next to a peer and they also give to you, you can see the tab "downloaded" which means how much you take from them. So seeds and peers are givers to you and you give to peers.
Switeck Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 That's overheads...like "send more", "slow down", "send this piece next", etc.Acknowledging each received packet eats up a surprising amount of bandwidth -- possibly even 10% as much as the download speed!Downloading isn't all download bandwidth.
Spock the Vulcan Posted December 24, 2010 Author Report Posted December 24, 2010 Got it! THX Switeck!
