Unwanted Torrent meta-file generated automatically on the Desktop

I am using uTorrent 2.2.23703 on Windows XP platform.

Since I have started using this version I am finding that each time I start downloading, a .torrent meta-file gets generated on the Desktop. If I delete this file the seeding and downloading continues normally, but if I exit from uTorrent then again restart from where I had left off I get an error sign instead of the usual tick, uploading or downloading arrows. I have to place the meta-file on the Desktop again if I want to continue.

I wonder why this change has taken place in this latest version because earlier on starting the download, the meta-file was not forcefully generated on the desktop. How can I get rid of this intrusion on my Desktop?
