JoeSmith Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 Hello,I've used uTorrent for a long time with the youtube settings, (which worked great for me...) but not I got a new computer, got a new uTorrent and I really don't know what to put in the preferences. Can someone please help, my download speeds are really slow.I have Windows XP by the way.The torrent i'm trying to download has 5895 seeds and 1916 seeds. From previous experience I think that this is a great toreent, so i figured it must be my uTorrent settings.Any information you need from me, please ask. I'm used to my movies taking 10 minutes, now they take hours/days/weeks/years speedtest.net :ping : 40 msDL : 11.12 mb/sUL : 1.97 mb/sPlease help me, I will be really grateful,Joe Smith
Switeck Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 2nd link in my signature, 1.5 or 2 megabit/sec upload speed settings...or take the average values of the 2 for even closer. They go the OPPOSITE direction than YouTube settings, because too many connections at once is *FAR* worse than slightly too few. And above 1 mbit/sec, they are hardly using "few" connections. In advanced settings...pretty much do NOT mess with the settings there to "increase speed".bt.connect_speed is outgoing NEW connection attempts per second...even setting that over 10 puts a bit of a drag on existing connections.net.max_halfopen has historically been set to only 8 in-progress outgoing TCP connection attempts at once and worked just fine *IF* you're not firewalled in uTorrent.Getting unfirewalled in uTorrent (get the green light at bottom) is a much greater speed improvement than increasing how fast you're making connections.
