stop seeding if there are no peers

Hi!

I want to request a feature, which is already there in Azureus.

uTorrent should stop seeding a Torrent, if there are no Peers, so there shouldn't even be made a connection to the tracker. Of course it should periodically check if there are new peers.

This is very usefull, if a tracker only allows a limited number of torrents being active.

Tanks in advance!

If the tracker is counting seeding towards number of active torrents, it's not really doing things right.

All things considered, this request will not benefit the majority of users, as public trackers don't impose such torrent activity limits.

Well, I think you have to differentiate this:

this request will not benefit the majority of users

There are many anti-leech trackers (ALTs) which have seeding connection limits due to the high bandwidth which is produced by having 10000 Users with about 50 Torrents active. One could argue about whether this feature is useful, but I would really like to have it in utorrent!

Right now, I am using Azureus as a result of the missing feature for the ALTs connection limit...

The ALTs need to write their own clients, for reasons including and beyond this one.

Admittedly seeding rules are being worked on, but this isn't going to increase the speed at which we work on it.

high bandwidth which is produced by having 10000 Users with about 50 Torrents active.

They really should look into WHY those piles of users have those large numbers of torrents active rather than trying to force client developers to write their client for them.

Well, having 50 torrents is exaggerated, which was my intention ;)

But I hope you see my point, DreadWingKnight.

I do not want to force anybody or increase the speed this is being worked on and I think neither does scavenger, but I want to point out that there is a community which would really like to have this feature integrated and this community is not that small :)

So, hopefully, the developers will probably just think about this feature, which would be enough for me! :)
