myxomoP Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Setting up a friend with 1.0.2, noticing that the ip blocklist options on mac are slim to none. There is a non-GUI PeerGuardian release which is ages out of active development and not at all user friendly. There is also no option to block or allow HTTP which I find to be crucial while browsing. I don't think it'd be a half bad idea to incorporate everything PeerBlock/PG2 does into uTorrent on all platforms, but it'd be especially nice on OSX where users' options are especially limited.Ideas?
DreadWingKnight Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I don't think it'd be a half bad idea to incorporate everything PeerBlock/PG2 does into uTorrent on all platformsExcept that PeerBlock/PG2 don't actually offer all that much real protection. (Read: next to none of the things it claims to protect you from are actually protected from)
p3drosola Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 the console says it loads ipfilter.dat if you have it in your Application Support folder, but i'm not sure if it actually works.
Ryall Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Ok I've been trying to get an ipfilter.dat working, a few of the lists I got didn't work.[00:00:00] Loaded ipfilter.dat (0 entries)as you can see, it wasn't blocking anything. This can be checked with ⌘2 in the message log.but then, I found a list which did work, it just needs to be renamed to ipfilter.dathttp://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/ipfilter.zip (last updated 29 jan 2009)I know it's not a new list, but it is better than nothing.[00:00:00] Loaded ipfilter.dat (225832 entries)as the helpful p3drosola said above, you need to place the ipfilter.dat file inside /Library/Application Support inside your home folder.utorrent is great, so are macs.
