I always move the downloaded movie to a special subfolder I make just for it. Then uTorrent says it can't seed it, because it can't find it, yet I have a perfectly good copy to share. How can I tell uTorrent which folder the movie is in? (Every movie get's it own subfolder, and most have subtitles I have found, too! :)

But I make a separate sub folder for each and every movie. That way I can keep the subtitle file in it, and still pictures or info about the movie I find on the web, as a text file.

My problem is, how can I tell the program that the files are just moved, and where they are?

I'm having the same problem as well. I usually download into a "temporary" directory, and once download is finished, I sort the files into different directories according to what they are (i.e. games goes into 'Games Download directory', vidoes goes into 'My Video', etc.)

One the files are moved however, my uTorrent can no longer seed them (Error: Files missing from job. Please recheck.). Is there a way I can redirect uTorrent to look for my files in a different directory? Would like to do my part to help others by seeding, but at the same time, I hate having everything dumped into a single directory.

I'm using the latest uTorrent version, and like CindyBrady, some of them are downloaded a while back and I have removed the torrents from my 'Completed' list in uTorrent due to the error messages.

Thanks!

I can't figure out the "relocate" thing at all. The files I have were downloaded ages ago.

I sure hope Nick can shed some light, as we walk down this dark tunnel together! :D

HI, NICK! :D WELCOME, NICK! :D I'm glad you joined in. :)

Be sure you're using the latest 2.2 version.

Then select the torrent job, stop it, click on the Files tab, select the files to relocate, right click, select 'Relocate' then choose the folder where you moved the file.

OH! It's at the BOTTOM of the screen! I was looking only at the top! :o

I told it where the files are, but it hasn't started seeding. How can I get it to seed? (I'm new at this, in case you haven't noticed! ;)

If you changed the filename of some files, just use 'Relocate' too. This function allows you to select the file with the new filename. Then force a recheck.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem, but because of the sites I belong to, I can't upgrade to the newest version. So, I have to use version 0.9. It doesn't have the relocate option. I'm on a Mac if that helps. It's beyond frustrating.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Mac 0.9 isn't supported by us anymore. And it's no where near the current version. Plus you're posting in the windows section of the forums.

Messages above are old so not sure people need answer still but here goes anyway!

I also am not using the latest utorrent as it won't work with some of the sites I use. And I am also new to this and learning as I go, but I have found a way that seems to work for me - Windows 7 so hope it will work for others.

I right click on the torrent name and select "Advanced" then "Set Download location". Then in the pop up window I find where I have moved the file to and click on that - (you have to select the actual file, not the folder you may have created) click save then back on the utorrent page right click the file again and select "Force Check". This should then reload it and when finished the red X should now be a green arrow. The last thing to do now is to click on the green arrow along the top of the page and that should start it seeding again.

Hope this works for you!
