Amish Hacker
uTorrent was working perfectly until I upgraded my internet service and received a Gigaset SE567 'modem'. I configured the SE567 to do both TCP and UDP port forwarding to the static IP Address of my desktop, and uTorrent still works perfectly if and only if the modem firewall is set to 'Low' or 'Off'. If I set the firewall level to 'High' then 1) the bandwidth test in step 2 of the setup guide reports 'Speed test failed' and 'Timed out. (10060) and 2) all my torrents work untill the next 'Update', then fail with 'Tracker offline (Timed out)'.While this is going on the 'Network' test in step 2 of the setup guide reports 'Your network is properly configured.' and the little green check mark in the bottom right-hand corner of the uTorrent 2.2 window stays green and says 'Network OK'.I'm not a network guy so I don't understand. Does port forwarding not bypass firewall rules, or is there some other port used to communicate with the trackers, or am I just missing something?Any assistance would be very much appreciated.P.S. I'm running XPSP2, my 'modem' is a Siemens Gigaset SE567, and I have run these tests with the Windows firewall and antivirus software disabled, and with the workstation connected directly to the SE567. moogly
Look at the policy in your modem FW when it is set on 'high'.
Amish Hacker
Sorry. I don't understand what you mean by 'policy'. Are you refering to the firewall rules?
