i wa told that for people who just download and then delete after completion(and not help others) the speed at which u download and upload files will be slower then those who download and leave the files in utorrent for others to seed off u, what doies this mean?? or is is my friend just saying random stuff??

also.

is it common for a download speed to be an average 154.7 kb/s and for upload to only be 0.1 kb/s? as thats what my speeds are at atm..

is there any way to raise upload speed as it takes hours for me to upload stuff.

With µtorrent, you don't download from a server, but from other users. That means that, the more people are uploading a file, the faster you can download it! So your friend is partially right. Because, when you don't upload your downloaded files, other people will have a slower downloading speed. If everyone would delete their torrents after they've been completed, no-one would be able to download stuff ;). Usually, if you upload at least about 90%, the torrent will 'live' (there will be enough uploaders after you delete the torrent).

About your uploading speed: it's usually a lot slower than your downloading speed, but yours could be around 30kb/s I guess... It depends on the number of downloaders. You see, if no-one is downloading a certain file you're uploading, you don't have anyone to upload to! You can check if there are any downloaders (the 'Peers' in µtorrent); if there aren't any, I usually just delete the torrent right away, it doesn't do that much harm then.

PS: you can test your upload speed here: http://testmy.net/upload-speed-test.php

Yes, that's can be common if you're downloading only popular torrents with hundreds peers, especially torrents coming from private trackers. Fast seeds use seedboxes or fiber lines and overseed to the swarm, that's why with your slow connection, you can't upload what's you downloaded.

Anyway be sure your bandwidth and queueing settings are good in µT, it's important: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=58404
