a1ucardx Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Hi all. The problem i'm facing now is that i can't seem to reduce my upload speed in anyway and its choking up my download. I'm currently running on a 200mbps Fiber optics line but my isp throttles me to around 10mbps when i'm using utorrent. I've read somewhere that by unchecking "enable local peer discovery" and checking "limit local peer bandwidth" will resolve the upload issue but it doesn't work for me. my upload speed is forever above my download speed and goes up above 1mb/s occassionally. I believe its affecting my download speed. i have everything checked except for "enable local peer discovery" in the "bittorrent" tab and i've set global upload limit to 50kB/s. i've tried setting a limit for the individual torrents to 20kb/s but nothing works even after restarting utorrent. does anyone have a solution to this problem? thanks in advance =)

a1ucardx Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 http://img600.imageshack.us/i/ssutorrent.png/Here are the screens. this was what i used to get before my ISP did an "modem firmware upgrade", do u think it could be settings on my side or isp throttling that i cant achieve the same speed that i used to have? http://img816.imageshack.us/i/checkoutmyspeed.png/
DreadWingKnight Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 apply rate limit to utp.Just like everyone else that had this problem.
a1ucardx Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 thanks it helped with slowing down the upload but it affects the downloads as well. i figured that my upload speed is not affecting my download at all. Unchecked limit uTP and d/L back to 500kb/s. Far from what i used to get before the firmware update though. Tried torrents with seeder:leechers ratio of 2:1 total downspeed was about 1.2mb/s far from the 2.8mb/s i used to get. Been trying to find the cause for a week now, getting no where with it.
Heliomo Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Hi.I'm facing a similar problem. I have limited my download and upload speeds, but these limits aren't being respected. Please see the following:I have a 2000K down limit, but you can see the torrents downloading at 2.8M. You can also note that the upload speed dropped after I started these downloads, but please note that they already were above the upload limit earlier (I had it setted to 200K, but the uTorrent was allowing about 500K of upload)I used to have a slow connection (2M down x 200k up), and I have never had this kind of problem. I have recently upgraded my connection to 30M down x 5M up, and then the "no limit respect" started showing off.

Heliomo Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks. It worked. But I have a question: I had defined a value (2000k) for the Global Download Limit Rate. Could you please explain why it didn't work?I also didn't find at uTorrent Help information about this section (Global Rate Limit Options). Thanks again.
DreadWingKnight Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Because uTP connections were active and you hadn't told uTorrent to speed limit them.
Heliomo Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks again. I already find the thread about Global rate Limit Options, and I'll do some research about uTp connections. (I'm a kind of newbie about it)Thanks again for the prompt reply.
Heliomo Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Sorry, what happens if I enable "apply rate limit to transport overhead"?Should I enable this option? (it is unchecked now)Thanks again.
zava Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Sorry, what happens if I enable "apply rate limit to transport overhead"?Should I enable this option? (it is unchecked now)Thanks again. For me...nothing. I've tried limiting the overhead to 100 kB (and I was expecting some reduction of DL/UL as well as they depend of it), but nothing happened. I still have a huge overhead of 250-350 kB (UL- 300-500 kB) and at least half of my DL. Interesting is the fact that when ULing at 10-20 mbs the overhead remains the same, 250-max 400 kB.I seed a lot (200 seeding active torrents with 10 max. peers per torrent) but I have a 60/60 mbs real speed fiber line so it isn't much of a problem. But I'm curious where could be the problem By de way, I've deleted all the trackers, letting only DHT/PEX/LPD, to no effect.
Johnow Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 JohnowBeen having problems with upload speeds infact i have been told by service provider because of detrimental use of the sevice i have been warned that i was going to terminat their sevice with me. The upload speed has been reduced I have had to strangle upload speed and reduced band width and use the sceduler but it does not give and refined control and i often have to get rid of the uploads before i would like too (use to give free reign to utorrent software before the ISP speed Upgrade)
cerritouru Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 This is really annoying bug or what ever, i cant limit mi upload speed and that its getting mi internet speed to the floor.. ive tray to limit evavrything but also limit mi download speed! ¿any tips? And sorry for bad english.

Tacca Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Here we go!I guess something is not working with the "Apply to uTP connections" option.
rafi Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 enable pref->bittorrent->limit local peers bandwidth
