bb1991 Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I've been reading quite a few posts here and there about changing the cache numbers and how to solve disk overload problems by changing the diskio.wtrite_queue_size to huge numbers...but the problem i have is that i use a computer specifically for torrenting since i turn it on for long periods without checking it.It's a 1.5Ghz single core processor with a 504MB of Ram and a 600+kB download speed, already seen many times when downloading popular torrents. While the up speed is 278.5 kbits/sec from Setup Guide > Run Tests.Anyway, i've recently encountered the ever problematic "Disk Overload 100%" line at the bottom left corner, but it came up only a few seconds and went away. But the problem i have is, ever since it came up my speeds are around 200 < based upon two torrents with each having about 30 seeds. Now i don't know if its because the torrents themselves are actually slow to begin with or should i be worried about the disk overload 100% pop-up.I'm also not sure if i should tamper with the cache settings or anything since my RAM is pretty low, i've tried finding info about how tampering with the disk speeds would affect the health of the disks themselves, like will it overheat or break faster? (since i live in a hot place)Now that i gave background info and the worries i have, should i still increase the cache speed? and to how much? are there other solutions to my problem? or is this normal and i should just shrug it offThanks loads for taking the time to help
