vampiro Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 I was wondering if someone can help out with this problem. I have bitdefender 9 firewall and my internet connection is telewest cable broadband. When i enable the firewall in bitdefender, it comes up with two pop up messages regarding the utorrent tcp and udp connections. So once that is done, shouldn't the program work since it gets added to the exception list similar to windows firewall. However if i do the same thing in windows firewall, it works fine. I get the green icon and when the speed test is carried out using wndows firewall, i get an OK status but with bitdefender 9, the connection is not good. what could the problem be? I also have peer guardian running in background. connction speed is 1mb. could anyone guide me step by step>Thank-you!
stihia Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Even I am a fan of both µtorrent and BitDefender I must admit that Firon was right in this post: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=161004#p161004I use also Zone Alarm Free and therefore I disabled the BitDefender built-in firewall, using now BD only for its antivirus and virus shield features... I must specify that when I was using the BD firewall I didn't received any error messages or popups from BD, the only issue of that firewall being the slower speeds. As a conclusion of all these:1. Install Zone Alarm2. disable the BD firewall AND the Internet Connection firewall on your network adapterGood luck!
vampiro Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 The other thing i have noticed is that when a file is downloading when bd firewall has been disbaled and windows firewall is running, it displays the green icon but when I test for a port from options menu-speed guide and click on test for ports by entering a number, at times it gives an OK status and then when it is tested again using same port it says port is not available. The other thing i was wondering is with the third party firewall systems, why does it always block the program even after you allow the program to be unblocked through the firewall or through the pop up boxes that appear when you first run and open the program? I even had this probelm with pc c-illin internet security in the past and in both cases I had to use windows firewall which opens the port for you after you place it in the exception list.
RaveMstr Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I'm also using BitDefender and µTorrent but i had no problem what so everwith them. All is ok in both!
