Namoi Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Hi,I'm eperiencing a strange behavior with my download and upload rate. For this i refer to the speed graph:With 2 active torrents, and my upload caped at 50, i have a stable upload rate which reach my cap and stay as a straight line without "peek" and my download is more or less stable around 100/200.Now, if i had 1 more torrent the upload and download rate begin to bounce to almost 0 and go back to the normal rates periodicaly. If i had 1 more i increase this problem with higher peeks.I don't know which is the problem as i have a high connection (1200ko dl / 100ko up)...My settings are :upnp disablemax up 50 komax dl 800 komax numlber of connections 820max number of connected peers 102number of upload slots 15DHT and peer exchange enableI have a WRT54GS "fixxed" and i set my settings according to the tut available in this forum. If anybody can help.
silverfire Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 "max numlber of connections 820" - This is generally unnecessary, since about 60 per active torrent is more than enough, especially with only an upload speed of 50KB/s. If you're trying to divide your upload among too many peers, your upload speed to each will be so low that they'll snub you, which would cause the drop in download speed.
Namoi Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 I doesn't seem to change anything... I've tried the speed wizard of utorrent, and always the same problem when i have more than 2 actives torrent... Make my crazy.I've seen some posts in this forum with similar cyclic speed problem, but ther are no real answer so far...
Namoi Posted March 13, 2006 Author Report Posted March 13, 2006 I've tried another torrent client with the same prefs and the same torrents file and i don't have (for now) these problems... I don't know what to say, but it seems that utorrent has a kind of "problem" here... Wait and see... I continue to test.I must say that the other client only show an overall dl and ul speed, so maybe it could explain why it seems not to have the problem...For info, before trying the other client, i've disconnected the WRT54GS router without improved performance under utorrent, so i connected it again.
rons Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I am new to this. Some of the files that I downloaded were not very good or did not work (caused errors). These I have been deleting as soon as I try them. I gather that this is not the right thing to do. Since I don't want to pass on bad files, how do I prevent them from being passed on without creating the "failed hash check".
Switeck Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 My settings are :max up 50 ko...number of upload slots 15A possible problem may be your number of upload slots. If you have 15 PER torrent and you're running 3 torrents, then there's actually 45 upload slots total (15 x 3 = 45). That means your 50 KB/sec upload limit you set is being split 45 different ways and barely giving 1 KB/sec to each person who gets to download from you. They would have little interest in uploading much back to you if you're uploading so slowly to them.
Namoi Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 Nope... I've tried 10 and 5 and it didn't change a thing... I really don't understand.
