Problem...You open a torrent in utorrent or bittorrent and it doesn't download. You see plenty of available seeds but 0 are being used. Download percentage is 0.0% and availability is red.

Solution...

First- If you don't have a static ip address, you need one.

To get a static ip: Open control panel

Network and internet connections

My network places

view network connection

right-click your connection and choose properties

in the connection items list; choose internet protocol then click properties

click bullet that says (use the following ip address)

(you can find that information at- start>run>cmd....then type ipconfig /all)

First fill out subnet mask then default gateway

for your ip address choose something close to your default gateway

(such as- 192.168.0.2...IMPORTANT...ONLY CHANGE THE LAST NUMBER)

click bullet that says (use the following DNS server)

fill out that info using the same ipconfig /all command

PRESS OK AND YOU NOW HAVE A STATIC IP

Second- stay in your network connection properties

click on advanced tab

click settings in the firewall box

click advanced tab again

select your network connection and then click settings

check mark ( secure net server(https), telnet server and web server(http)

Press ok and go back to utorrent and see if your file is downloading

Hello, could you do the same with Windows 7 OS, please? Like I see there is nothing from this part and on:

"view network connection

right-click your connection and choose properties

in the connection items list; choose internet protocol then click properties......."

or if it is just me that I couldnt find it, is there any ways you could show this steps on pictures ?

thank you very much
