why does utorrent freeze my computer xp pro

i never had this but sense i switch from windows 7 to xp pro utorrent freezes my pc. it just started to do this last night. xp has been installed for atleast a week or more. i try the hijack this program and dont know has to use it. can someone help me with this cuz i dont wanna switch back to 7.

my pc runs:

500GB hard drive

4GB ram

dual-core 2.6GHz
