user123456 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 There's a new standard being worked on:http://torrentfreak.com/eztv-introduces-bittorrent-rss-standard-with-magnets-110123/Part of the standard includes putting magnet links into the RSS feed. It would be really nice if uTorrent could make use of that magnet link instead of needing a web location to download the torrent from.
Ultima Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Question: Have you ever actually used a RSS feed that had magnet URIs in it? Because if you have, then you should know that µTorrent already does support magnet URIs in RSS feeds.
user123456 Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 http://www.ezrss.it/feed/I guess since it's a more complex feed it's not going to work by default. uTorrent is still finding either the link or the enclosure first and using that (which is failing to download, but that's an issue for another place)
Ultima Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 µTorrent doesn't support the eztv spec, so there's no way it would understand the new tags in the first place. The problem on their end is that they're serving up different links for different specs, which is kind of silly. Though I guess they're expecting that the clients that eventually support their spec would also support magnet URIs.
EZTV Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Ultima, are you saying you will not support any valid extensions of RSS? Why not allow the user to simply specify what attribute to use instead of hardcoding the enclosure tag? Really not allowing for much innovation are we? Also, not sure if you notice, but since we wrote the spec, tpb, bt-chat, bitsnoop and i believe a few others are now using it, so you can't exactly say this isn't something we would like to see implemented. But, it's your call in the end.
Firon Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 His post was from January 2011... We do support magnet links, but we don't support the magnetURI field. Probably not terribly difficult to do so.
magao Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Although it's replying to a necroed thread, you might be interested in my aggregated EZTV RSS feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/eztv-rss-atom-feeds?format=xmlAggregates data from EZTV (scraped from web page), EZTV RSS, EZTV Twitter feed and EZTV on The Pirate Bay.It takes the first link from each, so there are no enclosures or anything. In the case of TPB it gets the magnet link.<edit>Didn't notice I was replying to EZTV </edit>

Given that I wrote that post the very month the spec was first published, about the support status as of the posting time, I'm not sure how you could project anything to current day.I even outright stated that the spec would eventually gain support. So seriously, I've absolutely no idea what you're trying to get at here.
EZTV Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 Actually I never looked at the date, I had a number pf people ask me about it and referenced this thread. Apologizes, I guess the wasn't enough to portray my slight sarcasm in the comment made.
Orionshock Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 A few things i know and see from having EZTV RSS'es in utorrent ; It never loads a magnet link... for anything related to RSS. If a hosting site won't respond or accept connections or for any reason the log shows a fail to download the torrent file, it sits there retard style instead of loading the magnet link. ( I'd prefer that ezrss only publish magnet links, i'll make that request elsewhere)Adding a right click option or a check box, something even remotely related to a magnet link in the UI as an option to load from would be nice. It appears to accept a Magnet Link if it's force fed it as the link in the Feed.
