obliza Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I have spent a lot of time trying to learn everything I can about how torrents work.My Download and Upload speed are both set at unlimited.Basically, my plan is Up to 20000/1000kbpsThe maximum download speed I have ever retained for more then 10 seconds is 1.1MB per second. The maximum upload speed I have ever retained for more then 10 seconds is around 54kb per second. It can however spike to 60-70 kb but it never lasts. Here are my speed test results.http://www.speedtest.net/result/1194576216.png Local Pinghttp://www.speedtest.net/result/1194580569.png American PingIm using port 40000+ port of someones suggestion that it is good to use a port over 10000It is forward'ed, checked with utorrent and set on my router.According to the wikipedia article my internet provider does not throttle but regardless I have set the utorrent setting which hides it self to enabled. (Protocol Encryption)When I download something from a dedicated server I get great speeds. When downloading torrents it jumps up down an all over the place. same with my upload connection.Questions1. Why does my upload and download speed jump around so much?2. The utorrent test said I should leave upload and download at unlimited but is that really the best way to go?(I read that you should put them at something like 80% of maximum)3. What should I set my global connections, maximum p2p and upload slot number to?4. Why is my upload so tiny in comparison to my download? The above 4 questions I have found so many mixed answers for I really just had to make a post.Thankyou and regards,Obliza.
