seeding an already downloaded file after re-installed OS

So i had several files downloaded on one of my HDD's and i was seeding them as much as i could to keep my ratio reasonable on the site they were downloaded from. Now i did a re-install of windows 7 on my main HDD but then i realised i wouldn't have my upload stats for the torrent or whatever as i would have a fresh install of utorrent without old settings.

So is there a way i can tell utorrent that the torrent i load is already downloaded fully and that i just need to upload the files as required by anyone?

If i point the torrent to the folder where the completed file is it will just act like i was downloading the torrent for the first time rather than recognising that the files are already there 100% completed.

Thanks for any response.

Did you actually do this or are you mis-assuming behavior of the client?

I actually opened up one of the torrent files i wanted to upload and in the download location field i set it to the location where the finished files/folders are in order to see whether it would recognize that the files were already completed or whether it wouldn't work as i wasn't quite sure what i had to do.

I haven't mis-assumed behavior of the client because i didn't assume it would be able to do what i tried above.
