Samurai_PET Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi there!I used utorrent from many years, and I 've never had any problem.Recently I had to change my HD,because my old one died.Since I changed HD and OS , utorrent is making my computer crashing, or better "freezing".In fact there is no BSOD, and I can 't move anything or take any action. There is no particular error in event log (besides, Kernel-Power , due to forced reset). It happens only with utorrent opened, ONLY in download/upload (I tested it) mode , it could crash after many hours or after many minutes. As OS I use Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit Service Pack 1.I don 't know if it could help but I 'm using a wireless pen "USR805423" from USBrobotics, with latest driver. Please, Help me!Downloading a torrent now is an hell!
DreadWingKnight Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Have you tested with a wired connection yet?
Samurai_PET Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 I don 't have the possibility to do it.
ettore Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Maybe run a surface scan on that HDD; it's the only thing "new" on the system (other than the OS, which I am assuming is just a newer Windows). Maybe it's got a bad sector or something and it's having a heart attack long enough to crash the PC? uTorrent is pretty rough on a harddrive when it's starting a torrent ... who knows. Also, new OS ... updated all the drivers? Sometimes the OS needs chipset drivers, or maybe your HDD controller is using MS drivers when it could be using the manufacturer provided ones. What motherboard, chip and OS were you using / are now using?
