BruceH Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Two days ago I wiped my hard drive ( PC was getting full of junk programs etc ), and after re-installing all the service packs and drivers I re-installed uTorrent and tried to download. The problem is, now there's something really wacky about it. When starting a fresh torrent, the speed will climb regularly, but nowhere near reaching max. After about ~20 seconds the speed crashes and never goes over " .xx " kb/ps. EG, it will climb to about 200kb/s then fall to, and stay at, .01 ~ .07 kb/ps. I've not changed anything with the internet, nor the router. Normal downloads still are as fast as normal. Connecting directly to the modem, and through a different pc, and with different versions still get the same result. Even bitcomet climbs and crashes the same way. I've port forwarded, ran the glasnost ( came back fine ), tweaked the settings specified on the sticky posts, rebooted, reset, and everything and nothing works. It does it no matter if I set upload/download limits too. Something I have noticed is that the trackers are almost all Invalid ( UDP ), Offline, or 404'd etc. The only thing that provides me with any speed at all is probably the DHT. I do run peer blocker, but that has no effect on speed, and has never ever been a problem. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do.Edit: PC with Win XP, latest uT + Peer Blocker works just fine. What the heck?
moogly Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Did you try with PB uninstalled? What's the color of the network icon in µT systray? Green circle? And test with this torrent from LO: http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.3.2/win/x86/LibO_3.3.2_Win_x86_install_multi.exe.torrentAre you able to download it? No error?
vermele Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Hello! Same thing happened to me.I made a fresh install of Win Xp Sp3, all updates to date. After the reinstall same problem with the speed, it goes up like 4MBps then drop to 10k... and never goes up again unless, i stop the torrent and start it again, then the speed goes up and falls down again.Like you i tried all the things in the sticky, normal downloads work very well etc.I was wondering if this could be related to the network card driver?

No error? Not really going to download some unknown torrent. I know PB isn't the issue because I've always used it. My Win XP PC torrents just fine. Even bought a new router ( needed one anyways ) and it still does it on this ( vista ) PC. There's something that initiates when any given download hits about 300kb/ps and drops it to basically zero. I have no idea what is causing this because I changed nothing,
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I know PB isn't the issue because I've always used it.That doesn't answer the question asked. The "unknown torrent" is one of the test torrents used by us to troubleshoot torrenting problems. His one is libreoffice. My recommended ones for testing are OpenOffice and Slackware.
