inukchuk Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 HiI don't know exactly when this began (I think it started with v2.2 but I could be wrong) but I'm having to force re-check everything that's supposed to be 100% Done. The bigger files always verify to less then 100%, It's as if Write Caching is ON but it's NOT (both uTorrent and Windows write caching are OFF). I can't figure out what's wrong.Anybody else having this problem? HELP!!!
flyz Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 I have this same problem. I used to be able to right the click the torrent name, go to Advanced, Set the download location, and select the file and it would automatically check the file and begin seeding. Now it doesn't work. A workaround I found is to go to the Files tab, right click the file and select Relocate and it works that way. Don't know why it stopped working the other way.Is it better to turn off write caching? I have the Windows read/write caching disabling option checked and the other caching options checked.
DreadWingKnight Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 What file types are having this problem?
inukchuk Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 It's been happening to .rar and movie files. But it's only the bigger ones it seems (anything over 20MB, but not too sure about exact sizes). That's why I'm thinking it's a caching issue, that maybe the newer versions of uTorrent are somehow forcing write caching and ignoring the cache settings.I never use Write Caching even in Windows as it causes too many problems for me. It's not worth the trade-off in speed.
inukchuk Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 I just found out that the size of the file is not an issue, it happens even to small files. I just downloaded a 1.18MB pdf file and it did the same thing. I had to force re-check in order to get it completely (100%).Anybody have a solution? Anybody?I'm running XP SP3 with all current updates + NOD32 v4.2.42 with current updates.
inukchuk Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 I just downgraded from v2.2.1 to v2.2.0 and it's working fine again.I'll try v2.2.1 again later ...
DocsGal Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 If you don't mind my asking-and I know it sounds like a silly question-how do you go about rolling back the upgrade? I am having the same problems since I upgraded to the 2.2.1 and I can't get ANY of my torrents to even force check, can't point to them in the directory or ANYTHING since the upgrade!I have an old version from 2010 (vers.2.0.4) but have always just done the automatic upgrade since then so don't know how to roll-back the upgrade...Thanks,DocsGal
sammey19 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 I am having the exact same problem it shows the "error -1" for me...
inukchuk Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 Well, I simply ran the install for v2.20 and hoped for the best. If it didn't work, then I'd just uninstall and run install again from scratch.Actually, I downgraded first to v1.8.4, then upped to v2.0.4, then upped to v2.20. I wanted to know where the problem started.I haven't tried v2.2.1 yet coz I have a few torrents still going.
rafi Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 In my experience, this issue is being caused due to improper updating of your resume.dat setting-file upon quitting uTorrent. Trying to exit uTorrent properly (file->exit) can reduce the chance of it occurring. Also, stopping every active torrent helps too... I know it is not practical...
