mikekyrou Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Hello to everyone. This is my first post on this forum and i would like to have some help on a problem. To begin with:I want to transfer my songs collection from my old computer to my new computer. My old computer based in other country and i am living in UK. My old computer is used by my brother and i have been told him to create a torrent with my music collection (40GB) and upload it to a website to leech it. He created the torrent and he put also a variety of trackers (~20) on the torrent file. The he upload this torrent to a website and he sent me the site to download it. He have done all the procedure to be able to seed the torrent but i am not sure if the problem is in this procedure. When i download the torrent on my computer it says that there is 1 seeder(my brother) but the download doesn't start. I have tried to download other torrent and it works fine. Only this torrent doesn't start. I clicked on the torrent and on the tracker tab it says that the trackers are working but no speed and also all the trackers are counting for updating continuously. What is the problem? Here is a picture of the uTorrent: http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7513/59366570.jpgHere is the torrent on the website: http://www.seedpeer.com/details/3527783/Ellinika.htmlCan anyone help me please?
DreadWingKnight Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Are both computers reachable? Why are there so many excessively unnecessary trackers added to the torrent?
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 hi,thank you for the quick reply. It is the first time doing a torrent and we don't know how to do it. Can you tell me the steps to do it properly? Do you know what we have done wrong?
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Having 20 trackers in a torrent that is going to be shared on this small a scale is completely worthless. If both clients are firewalled, you will never connect to each other, and as such, will never be able to transfer the files. If the problem is restricted to one torrent, try making sure that both clients are ONLY running that one torrent.
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 both computer firewall are tuned off. also on both computer only this torrent is running. so what else can be the problem?
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 both computer firewall are tuned offDoesn't help if routers are involved.Do you pass the port check in the speed guide (ctrl+g)?
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 yes i have tried speed check many times. http://img863.imageshack.us/img863/4586/95904818.jpgI can download any other torrent but not this one..
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Network fails. Therefore the answer is no you don't pass.Do you have a router?Have you enabled UPnP or NAT-PMP in it (if you have one)?
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 yes i have enabled the UPnp and Nat-pmp but i don't know what router i have. i am living in students accomodation.
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 i am living in students accomodation. All bets are off.
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 no solution? why i can download other torrents and not my own?
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 As much luck as there are other peers out there that aren't firewalled.
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 sorry but i can't understand what you mean. i said you before that either me nor my brother we have firewalled computers ... ??
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 http://bt.degreez.net/firewalled.htmlBoth computers in your setup are red dot.
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Because of restrictions typically generated by student accommodation internet, all you can do is get your brother's computer's ports opened (unless he's in student accommodation as well).
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 no he is not in student accommodation. how to do it?
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Depends on what router and internet security software is involved.
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 i am not sure which model is it but definitely is a speedtouch. 99% it is a Thomson Speedtouch 585 V6
DreadWingKnight Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/SpeedTouch585/Utorrent.htmDon't skip steps
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 does the Thomson Speedtouch 585 V6 and the Thomson Speedtouch 585 are the same? I am new to these thinks that the reason of too many questions.
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 ok thank you very much. Does this will solve my problem?
mikekyrou Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 because my borther is not at home now i will try tomorrow. i just check the steps and i can't understand the static ip step. any help how to do it?
moogly Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 In addition, you don't need to upload the .torrent file to a torrent indexer/tracker.Your brother can send it to you by email or messenger, that's enough (especially if you want to keep private the torrent)
