Disable System Tray

It used to be configurable to show utorrent in System Tray or not. Unfortunately I have automatic updates and seems that this setting is lost. As a result i have disabled automatic updates. Please refrain from breaking GUI between updates

I always use utorrent as a regular application. Minimize/maximize from task bar and startup on boot. Since the last update, it seems that I also get a system tray icon, which I don't want. This is useful real estate and i don't like programs taking up space in there without permission. HIDE won't do what I want :(.

How can I disable just the system Tray icon?

Thanks

UI Setttings>System Tray>(Uncheck) Always show tray icon.

Does that not work?

Nope, unfortunately it won't do anything in utorrent 2.2.1 :(

Just hide it with Windows. Right click -> Customize notification options.

The option was disabled due to bugs, but it is fixed in 3.0.

Can't do it in Windows XP. However, I would love to download 64bit 3.0 Is it stable? Any URL for it?

Thanks,

You can hide icons in XP too, it's just a slightly different process. I forget it though, just check the properties of the taskbar or something. :P

And I would not recommend the 64-bit 3.0, but you can find the 32-bit edition in the Announcements forum.

I have the same problem, I cannot hide the tray icon. I'm using µTorrent 2.2.1 via Wine on GNU/Linux.

You cannot do it in 2.2.1, as mentioned, it is buggy. You have either to upgrade to 3.0 (beta) or downgrade to 2.0.4.
