qliphoth93 Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Hey guys New guy here, with a sort of noobish question...Recently I began running uTorrent on a new computer with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 installed. I previously had a computer with XP SP3 running the exact same spot, using the exact same connection. At any rate, I am usually able to get a download speed of about 120kBps, which is rather decent; however, as of late, I sporadically have short periods of time where my torrents download at great speeds, but most of the time, they remain at a downloading speed of about 5-10kBps. On the other hand, my upload speeds seem not to change much, and goes all the way up to 60kbps at times. I have used certain methods that were supposed to enhance my download speed, like changing the net.max_halfopen setting to 20, the bt.tcp_rate_control to false and setting bt.trans_disposition to 26, I also disabled the "apply rate limit to uTP connections" setting, as well as used a port that Glasnost suggested. Could my ratio be a possible factor to the problem? I currently have a pretty bad ratio right now (0.197), but it's only because of the freshness of this PC, I had a great 1.325 at a point with my XP machine.I run McAfee Antivirus and Firewall, which on my XP system never caused trouble, and has uTorrent as one of its exceptions on this machine. So, any suggestions guys?
