namster
I want to create a torrent from a folder, but the torrent's default name/caption is the folder name. I want to change the torrent name/caption on the bittorrent client (as opposed to the .torrent filename) without changing the folder name. Is this possible somehow? For example, if I make a new torrent from folder "ABC" and save the torrent as "XYZ.torrent", when I open the torrent file, it'll display as "ABC" on the downloads list as opposed to "XYZ" on the downloads list. How do I make it display as "XYZ" on the downloads list by default without having to rename the original folder when creating the torrent? As per my example with screenshots...1. I make a new torrent from folder "ABC".2. I save the torrent as "XYZ.torrent".3. When I open the torrent file, it'll display as "ABC" on the downloads list as opposed to "XYZ" on the downloads list.Non-optional alternatives1. I want to change the name/caption without having to rename the original folder (or making a copy of the folder and renaming that).2. By hitting F2, I can change the existing name/caption, but it only does it locally on my client. It does not effect the .torrent file in any way. So even if I change it with F2 on my client and then upload the .torrent file, it will not be changed for the next person who opens the .torrent file.If there is no possible way to do this, then can this be a new feature request? moogly
How do I make it display as "XYZ" on the downloads list by default without having to rename the original folder when creating the torrent? You can't. You need to enter the path of the "physical" data folder into this field. The only workaround is to edit the .torrent with BEncode Editor to change the folder name. namster
Thank you for your response. Is there any bittorrent client that would allow this? And how difficult would it be to implement this as a new feature in utorrent? From a user's perspective, this seems like a trivial thing that's been left out. moogly
I guess the use is very low, µT is already able to rename the folder/files of a torrent job and able to change the download location. And most of uploaders seed a torrent from its original folder/file.
