dimjim Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 (Yes I am a newbie)When I am downloading a Torrent, the file stops and a error message reads - Element not found. This is happening on all the files I am trying to download.Any Help would be appriciated!!Thanks
cadillac60 Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 The same thing happens to me. Right now, at the bottom right of my computer screen, there is an error message saying " element not found", which I get whenever I try to download. The problem began after upgrading to the latest version of Utorrent, and I have read similar reports from other forum members. Could this be a bug? and if so, is there a bugfix coming?
DreadWingKnight Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Are you skipping files? What media indexers do you have installed?Have you tried downloading to a different location? What specific version of uTorrent are you using?
DreadWingKnight Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 And what about the other three questions I asked?
cadillac60 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Does anyone know why, since I upgraded to 2.21, I continually get the error:"element not found"?This happens on everthing I try to download, right after a new torrent begins to download a few mb, it stops, and the error message comes up. I try force start, and it runs for 30 seconds and stops again.I try force re-check - no help.Any help would be greatly appreciated.John Martin

cadillac60 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 I cannot answer the first 3 of your questions, since I do not know what they mean.I do know that I have been using Utorrent for 2 years, very successfully, without any problems. But, since I upgraded to version 2.21, the bottom fell out.I cannot download anymore, since after a new torrent downloads a couple of mbs, it stops, and the error message " element not found" appears......every torrent...every time.I never had this problem before with previous versions of Utorrent.Everything else is the same - the same computer, the same software, the same guy at the keyboard, frustrated and mystified. Is there any possibility that the problem is not me, but is U ...Torrent?I would appreciate any help or advice that might solve this problem, which I apparently share with others on the forum.Thank You.
cadillac60 Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Is there a way to download and revert to an earlier version of Utorrent without losing current files/torrents?I am trying to find a way to avoid the "ELement not found" dilemma in the current 2.21version.
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Downgrading won't solve your problem, and it will likely cause you to become vulnerable to security holes as well.
cadillac60 Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Then what should I do?Thank you for your help.
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Are you skipping files in torrents you're having problems with?
cadillac60 Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 If by skipping you mean removing from Utorrent, no, I keep them active and keep reastarting, but they never finish.
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 No, I mean by setting individual files in the torrent to "don't download"
cadillac60 Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Yes, at times I do, but ALL of the torrents fail, those containg multiple files, and those with only one file to be downloaded. The error "element not found" appears for all attempted downloads.
Firon Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 What filesystem is your hard drive? Did you turn on compact allocation?
cadillac60 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 The file system is NTFS.Yes, I just checked, and compact allocation is ON.I believe that it has always been the default setting.
nightowwl Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 It could be a space issue.Check the drive you are saving the torrents to. If you have less than 1MB free you will get the 'Element Not Found' error. Free up some space and you should be good to go. Worked for me, and I saw on other forums that this solution worked for others also.
