Hamsta Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I was downloading a torrent with the download rate running at .7 kb/s, then I talked to my friend and he led me here where I learned how to make the speed faster. It worked successfully up to the next day when I tried downoading a different torrent. Help is much needed.
bently Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Are you connecting through a wireless router?
Hamsta Posted April 22, 2011 Author Report Posted April 22, 2011 No. Iv got satellite broadband. If that helps.
moogly Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Sat, wimax, 3G... these networks are not really designed to support p2p traffic...
moogly Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 My thoughts are it's not very a good idea to use a BT client with a sat connection. Are you able to forward a port and obtain a green circle? Or are you staying in firewalled state?
bently Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Certainly sounds like you've been auto-throttled. Most SAT providers only allow a few GB/month before they throttle you.*A "threshold" is the amount of data that you can upload or download in a 30-day period before WildBlue's Fair Access Policy may reduce your speeds.
moogly Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Yep, sat ISP have a strong fair access policy in general.
Hamsta Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 I dont know if Im in a firewall state -because frankly, I dont think I have one- and It changes between green, yellow and nothing.
moogly Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 That's what I wanted to know, the color of the network icon in µT systray. As you have no access to the router to forward a port, your are firewalled by the ISP network. As I said, sat internet should not be used to run torrents.
