overall connection speed and utorrent speed

hey guys

i had a few questions about my connection speeds first off my overall connection speed confuses me a bit i can get up to 30mbs down at night but should my download and upload speeds be so drastically different i know that upload is almost always significantly lower but is this normal. also i am able to download at about 500kbs to 1.5mbs but on the same torrent seeding is only a few kbps a second on most a couple will go up to 100kbs but that's rare. at first i thought maybe there weren't enough peers to seeder but some of them are around 500 seeders and 2000 peers
