TorrentUser2000 Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Hi. Please help. When trying to dl, I get this error "Unable to save .torrent (file name). Been doing this for a couple of days now. I use Firefox and was using Beta 3. Now using 2.2.1
moogly Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Preferences > Directories, be sure the .torrent storage folder is reachable or exists. Then force a recheck.
TorrentUser2000 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Report Posted May 12, 2011 Ok. I got it to start DL. I had "Put new DLs in" and "Move completed DLs to" going to the same file. I un checked "Move completed DLs to" and it started. But now it dls for a few seconds and then stops with an error says "access denied" I am the admin on this computer. Any ideas? Thanks
moogly Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Try to run utorrent.exe as admin one time.Or remove the download directory and create a new one (and move the files into it before starting µT).
TorrentUser2000 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Report Posted May 12, 2011 My directories must be screwed up. How should they be set?

TorrentUser2000 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Report Posted May 12, 2011 I use W7. Problems started when I had to change the drive where the downloaded torrents where stored. It worked for about 5 downloads and then I started getting the first error "unable to save". Got that to go away but now I am getting "access denied" and I am the admin for this computer. Things are so screwed up. Wonder if I can uninstall UT and start over.
moogly Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 It's not an issue with µT but with user rights under Windows. Being admin doens't imply you have the full control on the folders and files, if they have been created with another user account (user ID has changed).
TorrentUser2000 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Report Posted May 12, 2011 I am the only one that uses ut and installed it with my user account. Are there other places to look for user settings? Should I do an uninstall?
moogly Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 You can try to reinstall µT as admin, yes. As long as you don't erase the folder %appdata%\utorrent, you can restore your history easily (make a back-up of this folder before reinstalling uT).
