Tzell
Is it possible to sparse unsparsed files?I have a few big files (100+ GBs) I'm downloading, and I forgot to activate the sparse optionCan I somehow force these files to be sparsed? If not, I think this would be a very useful feature in next versions of utorrent. DreadWingKnight
No it's not, and it's a filesystem limitation preventing us from being able to apply the attribute accordingly. You have to DELETE the files and re-create them to force them to become sparse.
Tzell
mmm a file system limitation?just an idea - what if uttorent would "delete" the unsparsed files, then relocate the sparse version by itself.so its kinda like copying an unsparsed file into a sparsed one? could that work somehow? DreadWingKnight
It would be possible, but that's a kludge to work around a problem that rarely comes up.
Tzell
who knows, perhaps it does come up just noone complains about it
OpalApps
Hello,You can use the "SparseChecker" http://www.opalapps.com/sparse_checker/sparse_checker.html. It allows to analyze a file and mark it "sparse" saving disk space from being occupied by zeroes.Regards
