Can a power failure corrupt utorrent's files that were downloading

Hiya, last night at our place we got a power failure blackout while utorrent was running on my PC, was wondering should I restart a brand new downloadwould since I was thinking would it possible it could corrupt the files that were being downloaded? Any advice and info would be greatly appreciated any many thanks in advance.

Force a re-check and resume rather than re-start from scratch. You'll throw away a lot less data that way.
