some vpn issues

So recently I purchased a seedbox that came with a vpn. It said to use openVPN (but I only want my utorrent traffic proxied, not everything) and gave me an IP address (which is the IP address of my seedbox). I want my utorrent traffic on my home computer to use the IP of my seedbox and no longer my home IP, so I read some previous threads here and saw a few people that said to change some advanced settings in utorrent to the IP address of my seedbox. So I changed my net.outgoing_ip and my net.bind_ip in utorrent preferences to the IP of my seedbox and I thought that it was working fine.

But now in the bottom right of utorrent, it has a red exclamation point and says "listen error, you should change the listen port." What does this mean? I had my port forwarded, but I changed it to random and that didn't do anything to fix the problem.

And my last question is about connectibility. I wanted to see if the VPN was actually working (and not showing my home IP address anymore), so I had two of my friends attempt to download torrents that I was the sole seeder of on a traker, and they weren't able to connect to me. I find this strange because right now, I'm seeding a bunch of stuff and it all seems "normal" (why can I seed some torrents in my client but not the ones that I had them test where I was the only seeder?).

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Don't do this. If the IP address isn't assigned directly to your computer, those settings will NOT work properly.

You either need to have a proxy system set up on the seedbox or you need to use the vpn with it to connect.
