utorrent freezes computer

*note* i have absolutely no computer skills!!

That being said; the problem is that i had utorrent on the computer but while downloading it freezes the whole computer every time, i then uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it and had the same outcome so then uninstalled it and installed vuze which had the same problem; while downloading it to would freeze the computer. I tried remote assistance on MSN but the connection was denied so I was thinking its network related.

side note the computer was completely reinstalled with WinXP, all updates added, and i had the same issue. Also my internet provider is rogers.

For Process Explorer, you need to select utorrent.exe and enable DLL mode (ctrl+D), edit your log.

Bare with me so go back into the process explorer program, go down the list click on/highlight utorrent.exe then (Ctrl+D) then the box the appears highlight/copy/paste into my log? sorry im not the greatest at this thanks for helping though

Do you see multiple p2p connections blocked in AVG? And about your network card, do you know if it can support p2p traffic?

Dell GX620 and the dell site says;

also not sure about AVG but it will download up to 15min - 30min before it freezes but after the initial freeze if i restart the computer and continue the download then it usually freezes right away -to about 10min, hope this helps.

Can you try with AVG uninstalled? (you can install MSE antivirus temporarily)

ok so i uninstalled avg and installed MSE antivirus and have been able to successfully download twice without it freezing the computer! thank you so much, tho u said temporarly install mse antivirus is there a specific reason for that. is there something else i need to do? as of right now tho everything seems to be working fine!

If the freezes are completely gone, maybe you can reinstall AVG and set it correctly to skip p2p traffic and IP flood detection. I think it's more a question of bad configuration than anything else.

If that fails, you can install Comodo as FW, MSE as AV. Or another product.
