Hi

I'm behind a college HTTP proxy and the only way I can use the bit torrents is by using a software called proxifier to tunnel the connections thro the proxy. I used to work with Bit Comet until a few days back and it used to connect to a large no of peers(100's) and I used to get speeds of around 150KB/s downloading and 500KB/s uploading. However I switched to uTorrent 2 days back and am facing problems.

First of all even though there are many peers availabe(around 70) uTorrent connects only to about 6or7. Also I get relatively slower speeds of only around 20-30 KB/s down and 100KB/s uploading. Whts going on... Can I fix it?

Thx

If there are lots of BitComet clients floating around your torrents (in my experience, BitComet users tend to go to torrents with a BitComet majority), you will probably do better with BC. BC shows a remarkable reluctance to share or even connect with other programs like uTorrent - it DOES happen, but not very enthusiastically. Sometimes, you can't get them to take your SEEDING.

If you are hooked up to only 6 or 7 guys, then 20-30 down and 100 up is a good speed.

Don't get too hung up on a client. uTorrent is lightweight and I've gotten full bandwidth saturation more with it than any other client, but if BC is obviously giving you better speeds for some torrents, there is no need to be a fanatic - just transfer the torrent to BC when you aren't using your computer (when not using because BC can be a drag in comparison to uT).
