Jason404
I am trying to use uTorrent Portable on Windows 7.I usually use Windows Server for uTorrent, but as I am trying to use it on Windows 7, I am getting UAC issues, where it does not seem to have write permissions to save downloaded files. I get an error saying 'Error:Access is denied'.So how do I avoid this error without running uTorrent with admin rights? How do I set the NTFS permissions so that uTorrent will work? moogly
Where do you save your downloads?Be sure it's not %programfiles%\uTorrent (only the exe is stored here) and check the directories you set in Preferences > Directories.
Jason404
No, I trying to save them in %USERPROFILE%\Downloads\.I am using the portable version from here: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/utorrent_portableI have just noticed some other unusual behaviour. uTorrent does download when I run it as an elevated administrator, but it downloads the file into the user folder for 'Administrator', which is disabled on Win7 by default, and not the main local admin account which I am using.I have not set any particular download folder in uTorrent's options, and the machine is in a domain, but I do not think this will make any difference, as I am not using a domain account - just the default local admin account with my username (not the 'Administrator' account, which is disabled.Does anybody know what is happening here? Why can uTorrent not download unless it is elevated (which I do not want to do) and why does it download into the Administrator user folder when I do?I have posted here as well: http://portableapps.com/node/28435
