Did Microsoft buy out uTorrent, or just do the "improvements," LOL. Please, someone, e-mail me the older version, or at least help me out!

I downloaded uTorrent in April. This week, I had PC issues, and with one thing and another, uTorrent got deleted. I downloaded the latest version, and it's HORRIBLE. Here are only a couple of my issues. Keep in mind that I am not computer-savvy, and need idiot-friendly programs. So while this may be a complaint about the old versus new, it may well just be operator error, in which case I'd love someone to tell me how to do what I want. Thanks in advance.

The newer program automatically begins downloading an entire torrent, without giving me the option of choosing which files in a torrent I want to download. For a multi-document file, this is a nightmare. I have absolutely no control. No matter how many times I click "don't automatically download files," the thing downloads all files automatically, which to me means without my input.

The look is different, unfriendly, and confusing. The earlier version was self-explanatory. So far, I've spent two hours trying to find anything to help me figure out this program. No dice.

It takes so very long to do anything, and when it finally does start downloading the entire torrent (which isn't what I want but what the heck), all I get is red text. No info, no arrows, nothing I can understand. Just no downloading after all the waiting and frustration. It's like I'm not even connected to the internet.

These are only two of the issues, but they are the most annoying at this moment. I did a system restore, but although it gave me a shortcut to the older version, the version itself is not on the computer any longer. So how do I get the program to let me choose which files in a torrent I want to actually download?

If I am going to put this on another computer, I need a version (or maybe a brain) that works. Any help, guys? uTorrent is too good a program to bog down in its own upgrades.

I hope you speak techno-moron, since I don't speak techno-lingo. I searched this site for older versions, and they are not stored. This is freeware, so why does it matter if older versions are available? The new one does not work for me. Is there hope for someone like me, who gets confused by mechanical pencils?

User abc00 was banned for recommending an old version of uTorrent.

Preferences - UI settings - Show a window that displays the files inside the torrent

Red text still means tracker errors which can be found on the tracker tab, although you've probably just got some internet security software behaving stupidly and assuming that uTorrent's new version needs to be blocked.

Thanks ... but, Dreadwingknight, could you tell me why the older versions are verboten, since there is no financial loss involved? I understand maybe only having the latest version as an example of pride of creation, but it seems that it hurts nobody to have several versions. Could you explain why you uTorrent won't allow links to older versions? How does it hurt uTorrent?

It hurts us because it takes time away from supporting current versions to support old, buggy, and in many cases security-hole laden, versions.

And using old versions actually DOES hurt users because it needlessly exposes them to security holes.
