Feature request marked as duplicate, but I can not find the original.

I had posted a feature request, and it had been noted as a duplicate request.

Could I be pointed to the original feature request so that I can vote it up?

You're asking us to support finding a file by size alone and not even considering the ramifications of using that metric.

Trying to link files by anything other than their hash is going to cause more problems than it's going to solve.

And this is ignoring the fact that at the layer you're trying to use, the BitTorrent protocol as a whole has no concept of files. It's not going to end well.

No you misunderstand the request.

The file size is used ONLY to determine possible matches.

After it finds a file of the same size, it compares the hash.

The file size is used just to speed up the search (IE, doesn't try to compare hash of files that are copletly different sizes)

Ultimately what you're after will just turn bittorrent into "just another p2p system" which is something we don't.

I felt it would help increase the number of seeders overall in torrents. I am forced to either make a copy of a torrent until i hit my ratio, or manually relocate hundreds of files.

Another good use for it would be for someone who wants to rebuilt a library after a system crash, and has files that are renamed.
