prbwi
Became registered just to post this. Running a WD Essentials 2T External drive on an Acer Aspire netbook using XP. I prefer XP to Vista in many ways. However, I just went through a sytem update and reboot. I'm not sure which one caused it, but the computer then failed to recognize the external drive. No amount of disconnecting and reconnecting did anything. Finally I had to pull the power supply to shut off the drive. Upon reattaching the power supply, it worked just fine. I hope this doesn't happen every time I reboot the computer. Since I'm using the drive for torrent files, I really don't want to just switch to the internal drive. I don't plan to ever shut down, so that I can seed. So, I hope I don't receive too many Microsoft-in-the-head updates.
