ScottRowan Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 OK I used to be able 2 download torrents with good speed (if good seeds) fine and it was all great. But for some reason somethings up. I've forwarded my ports with the same port number as the one im using in uTorrent, but im still getting rubbish speeds that wont go past 10Kb's and I usually get 120Kb's max (1mb Broadband). Why is it not getting its full speeds when im connected to something like 20seeds to 1 leecher etc. Also when uTorrent 1st started I clicked the Check Port Forwarding link and this is the page I got:I really need help with fixing this. I even reformated my whole comp today just so see if starting fresh would have fixed the problem and it hasn't.All help appreciated greatly. Thanks
hofshi Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 if you use a proxy, you may fill in its details in preferences-->other.
ScottRowan Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 And like how do I find out the information ive to put in:Proxy Server [iP:Port] ... Type:how do I find that stuff out??
hofshi Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 in Firefox: Tools-->options-->general-->connection settings

ScottRowan Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 Btw Firon what do you mean by NTL transparently proxies all HTTP traffic. Is that good or bad etc?
Firon Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 It'll prevent this particular port checker from working, and make you unconnectable on a lot of trackers. Bad thing. NTL puts you behind a proxy for HTTP traffic, that you can't opt out of.
ScottRowan Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 So basically.. i cant fix my prob.. which doesnt make sence because:1. It worked fine before2. My friend has the same internet as me and they get fine speeds etc..
Firon Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 It'll work, your speeds just won't be that great on a lot of trackers, because it'll be as if you're unconnectable.
ScottRowan Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 I just dont get then why all of a sudden its stopped working for me if its working fine for my m8...So any ideas of stuff to do?
Firon Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Well, run a speed test, use the speed guide, uninstall your firewall, and forward your ports.
ScottRowan Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 OK I ran the speed test at DSLReports and this is what it told me:So ... what now? (Btw thanks for helping me with this )
Firon Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Uh, did you make sure to stop all your transfers, and close µt before running that test?
ScottRowan Posted March 27, 2006 Author Report Posted March 27, 2006 Umm, I think so .. why is it a bad test.. heres another one:
Firon Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Well, press Ctrl G, and choose xx/128kbit from the list.
Nefarious Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 shouldnt xx/96kbit be beter for him? the speed test never goes up from 100kbps anyway
ScottRowan Posted March 27, 2006 Author Report Posted March 27, 2006 Well just to let you know...I've got the exact same provider and speed package etc as my m8.. he downloaded a torrent 2day and go up to his speeds of 110-115KB/s and I tryed the same one and mine struggles to get past 2KB/sSo just to make sure it wasnt my internet.. we tryed downloading a program off of download.com and we both got full speeds of 115-120KB/s so its fine.So it must be a problem with the uTorrent settings or torrents in general.. or a setting etc.. something to fix it Someone must know (crys to himself)Really wish I could sort this.. dont get why it just changed to crap slow speeds when its been working fine before
