dramacydal Posted September 7, 2011 Report Share Posted September 7, 2011 I have hundreds of torrents that I'm considering to transfer off my desktop to an external HDD (that I've yet to buy) that has around 2TB of space.My crappy desktop has pata and is limited to the amount of hard drive space I can purchase for a reasonable price, and very soon I will run out. I'm wondering if this is a practical solution to my hard drive space problem, or do you think the external HDD will die after a few months of being on 24/7? Can external hard drives handle being on 24/7? I'd hate to lose all my torrents and data, especially seeing how they're seeded for a private tracker. But mine has a built-in fan for proper cooling.I just bought an enclosure with a fan and chucked a 1.5TB Western Digital drive into it. Works very well!
