jbeck9
As the subject says - A new install of windows, new machine, Dell XPS quad core, new install of utorrent.Every time I run utorrent I get the BSOD within a few minutes.Basically says IRQ NOT LLESS THAN OR EQUALanyone with a similar setup solve this one? - I read about XP and other versions of utorrent on the forum.a lot of differing opinions but I didn't really see a definite answer.I'm running macafee security center. I should note here that utorrent works, until it crashes my system.the only thing I changed so far was the 4 utorrent directories options for torrents and files.thanks in advance
jbeck9
I set affinity to a single core as described in a previous post. Still crashed within 3 minutes. Now turning macafee firewall off completely.
jbeck9
turned off macafee firewall completely. Still got BSOD within 3 minutes. Also it appears setting the affinity to single core does not persist - when I start utorrent again, I have to set it again, but that didn't fix the problem anyway.Somebody please help! DreadWingKnight
Uninstall, not turn off if you're dealing with McAfeeAnd "Basically says" isn't helpful. The full bluescreen is needed for troubleshooting.
jbeck9
is there a way to get the text of the bluescreen after the fact? I'll post it here if it will help. DreadWingKnight
Have you tried with McAfee completely uninstalled yet?
jbeck9
not yet. will tomorrow. thanks. Can I completely disable it instead? It came with the system I don't know if I have it on disk to reinstall.
DreadWingKnight
The only way to completely disable it is to uninstall. And this isn't the first time McAfee has caused this either.
jbeck9
Thanks. Well, when my trial period is finished I'll uninstall completely. That's a week or so away. But for now, I have no other protection software, I'll wait.Do you know what antivirus/protection software doesn't cause problems for utorrent?I can get that when this free version of Macafee runs out.ThanksJeff
