Name of torrent used as the first directory name of the download

Hi,

Whenever I do a NEW torrent download, or if I need to MOVE an existing torrent, the first directory of the torrent data always seems to retain the name of the torrent file as the first directory name.

I put all my torrent data into a single directory, like Movies, Wii Games, etc and have had to manually edit the download directory when I start a new torrent. But I would like Utorrent by default to NOT fill in the first directory name.

This is also a problem when you want to MOVE the torrent data using the Advanced / Set Download Location command as again it retains the torrent name as the first directory it places the data into a directory with the torrent name. Again, I don't want it to do that.

For example, when I load a new torrent file called [Wii]Kirby_Epic_Yarn[NTSC][WiiSOS.com].torrent it by default places the data in c:\users\les\Downloads\Wii Games\[Wii]Kirby_Epic_Yarn[NTSC][WiiSOS.com]\*.* and I need to manually edit that download location to c:\users\les\Downloads\Wii Games\ as I put ALL my Wii Games into one directory. I do the same for all my movies. How can I setup Utorrrent so it NEVER appends the directory name [Wii]Kirby_Epic_Yarn[NTSC][WiiSOS.com] ?

I have the same problem when I want to move the torrent data, for example all the files in the above download are currently sitting in c:\users\les\Downloads\Wii Games\ , when I change it's location in Utorrent 3, by using the command Advanced / Set Download Location to e:\Downloads2\Wii Games\ it instead puts the entire data into e:\Downloads2\Wii Games\[Wii]Kirby_Epic_Yarn[NTSC][WiiSOS.com]\*.* . Again, it is appending the torrent name into the download directory, I DON'T want Utorrrent to do that.

Any ideas how I can fix this ? I went through all the advanced commands but I don't seem to see anything. As well, I don't really want to hardcode the torrent download locations in Options / Preferances / Directories as I like to on the fly change my data download directories as I place Movies, Music, TV, Apps all into different directories. And like to do that change it on the fly. I also love the feature where Utorrent remembers the last directory you downloaded to and uses that.

Any ideas ?

Les

Hi All,

This is tstwitter again. For example from the Utorrent FAQ, this is the methodology to MOVE torrent data. This is a cut and paste.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving files to another location after they have been loaded in µTorrent

For sorting reasons you may wish for your newly reloaded files to be saved to a different location. This is easy enough but must be done a single torrent at a time.

1. Stop the torrent you wish to move in the torrent list in µTorrent.

2. Move the files to the location of your choice (for multiple files move the containing folder as a whole)

3. In µTorrent, right click > Advanced > Set Download Location ...

4. Browse to the location where you have moved the files.

5. Start the torrent again.

Note: if you wish to move several torrent to the same location you can select multiple torrents and perform the same action.

If for example I manually copy downloaded data from the torrent [Wii]Kirby_Epic_Yarn[NTSC][WiiSOS.com].torrent from

c:\users\les\Downloads\Wii Games\*.*

to

e:\Downloads2\Wii Games\ *.*

Then use the Advanced / Set Download Location to command, it will stay at 0.00% STOPPED and will not allow the torrent to reload. Even if I choose Force Recheck. If I move the data to

e:\Downloads2\Wii Games\[Wii]Kirby_Epic_Yarn[NTSC][WiiSOS.com] then use Advanced / Set Download Location, it works perfectly and reloads the data! It seems that when we use the Advanced / Set Download Location command that is REQUIRES to use the appended torrent name directory.

I don't know why this is so. I want to move downloaded data WITHOUT the appended torrent name directory, as I put all my downloaded data into a single directory for ease. Movies in the movie directory, Wii games in the Wii games directory, etc...

Thank you. I didn't know it was possible to do that.
