VogstAr
After reinstalling windows 7 32bit about a month ago, I've had 20 blue screens due to utorrent while trying anything to fix it... Before that I never had problems with utorrent at all! Hopefully someone can help me out, here is some info and what I tried so far:Running Windows7 32biton a HP Elitebook 8530wwith McAfee Virusscan Enterprise + Antispyware Enterprise 8.8with Windows firewall, as installed with windows 1. updated Intel network drivers from HP website, like before reinstall; no use2. updated Intel network drivers from Intel website, never done that before; seemed to delay the time till death3. disabled Disk caching in utorrent, as suggested somewhere on the web; no use4. searched the utorrent forums for people with similar problems; mostly about updating network drivers or removing security software, the poster never replies if their problem got fixed or not5. send the laptop to HP for hardware checks, came back clean, no hardware failure (they forgot their cd with testing software though )6. swapped hdd with similar laptop; same problemThe only thing I did not do, was removing McAfee, for obvious reasons, and it was installed before so nothing new there--- Bluescreenview says ---A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damageto your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: NETIO.SYSDRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALIf this is the first time [...] Advanced Startup Options, and thenselect Safe Mode.Technical Information:*** STOP: 0x000000d1 (0x00000014, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8be38bf2)*** NETIO.SYS - Address 0x8be38bf2 base at 0x8be32000 DateStamp 0x4ce78963--- ---If I need to supply any more information that might help you help me, please tell me... thanks! DreadWingKnight
The only thing I did not do, was removing McAfee, for obvious reasons, and it was installed before so nothing new thereEven though there are standing issues with McAfee that only uninstalling can solve. VogstAr
Thanks for the reply, DWKI saw your reply on jbeck9 his posts, can you tell me how McAfee+utorrent can cause a blue screen? I'm afraid I will have to let go of utorrent, after almost 5 years of use
DreadWingKnight
Because McAfee changed something in one of their network monitoring drivers that is bluescreening the system when it attempts to monitor uTorrent's traffic. That monitor driver is active until McAfee is uninstalled.
