komax Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 when i try to download directly on to my external hard drive, the speed is about 5kb/s,can someone please help memy download speed is usually about 1.2mb/sexternal hard drive- adata 1tb,FAT
CrazyCanuck Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Well, if you can, reformat your external to NTFS. FAT is probably, well it is likely verry inefficient at data transfer (since it's from back in the day when we had floppy disks and all we needed to do was wait 10 seconds to save a 2KB word perfect file). If you can't do that, try getting a high speed usb cable (usb on one side, firewire input on the other) which is the usual set up for LACIE external hard drives.Otherwise. Try downloading to your laptop or pc, then setting the file to transfer after it is complete. This avoids the lag between hard drive to usb cable to external and back again that can be caused by older file systems of simply an older USB port, old computer, old drivers etc...I get a minimum of 11.3MBPS transfer through my USB cable so it does not affect my download speed, however not all USB cables, ports, and drivers are made alike.HAppy torrenting.
