patronanejo Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 In order to maintain a consistent directory structure...C:\Username\Video Files\Television\Series Name\Season 01\Series Name - S01E01.mkv...I often need to rename folders and files after downloading is complete. When I anticipate this I go to the trouble of adjusting attributes ...Options>Preferences>Directories>"Move completed downloads to __________"...accordingly--but in addition to being impractical, the method fails in the case of simultaneous downloads or typos in assigning a new filename to be saved under.I always archive the original .torrent metadata file alongside the target video file (helps avoid re-downloading the same file if I end up being disappointed with it), so it would be easy for me to help the client associate a .torrent file with a local video filename that doesn't correspond to the name key in the payload. I don't know if that's necessary, but I'm sure I have to provide uTorrent with the updated path before it can resume seeding.Accessing the directory structure through the client in order to clean up the target filepath would probably be the best way to continue seeding uninterrupted, but I'm unable to locate such an option.I appreciate any help--apologies in advance if this query needs to be moved to a more appropriate forum topic.patronanejo|ät|gmäil.comEDIT:Once again, I've underestimated the tendency of updates to leave menus looking exactly the same but changing the way the options function after you've selected them.If you are looking for an answer to the same question, you can find the solution at http://lifehacker.com/5612315/how-to-seed-moved-or-renamed-files-in-bittorrentI remember trying it recently though, and if you selected [set Download Location] after the download was complete, uTorrent would indicate the target file already existed in that directory and prompt you to overwrite or cancel. Is it safe to select "overwrite" since the download is already complete?EDIT:I suspect the above-described warning dialog is a result of pointing uTorrent to a new path without changing the filename.
